Conference fees have been kept as low as possible and include tea/coffee, light lunches and dinners, but not accommodation. To give further flexibility delegates are free to book their own accommodation. However, please note that due to the intensive nature of the work during the Masterclass, all attendees are strongly encouraged to stay at Madingley Hall, which provides excellent catering and accommodation at very reasonable prices (£74.40 per night B&B inc VAT). By registering for an event, Albany Associates Ltd will provide you with information relating to your booking and other Albany Associates Ltd products or services via email, direct mail, fax or telephone. Please contact Albany Associates Ltd at the above address if you do not want to receive this information.
Cancellations
All cancellations must be made in writing to the address above, and received no later than 9 March 2012. Such cancellations are subject to a handling and administration charge of £175.00+ VAT per delegate, which will be deducted from any due refund or invoice, whichever is appropriate. The company regrets that it cannot refund any fees for cancellations that are made within 30 days of the event date but a substitute delegate can be nominated. Substitutions made on the day of the event are at the organizers discretion only. Albany Associates Ltd will not offer refunds to delegates due to terrorist alert or incident unless the event is cancelled. In this instance, Albany Associates Ltd will retain up to 50% of the event fee to cover marketing, administration and delegate registration costs.
Value Added Tax (VAT)
From 2011, where applicable, VAT will be charged at the standard UK rate of 20%. This is applied to the standard or discounted course prices outlined above.
Whether VAT is applicable can depend on two factors: the nature of the organisation and the country they are from.
If the organisation is an overseas non-commercial government organisation (i.e. ministry or national regulator), then VAT is charged but at a zero-rate (0%). A condition of zero rating is that we must obtain a certificate from the foreign Government concerned, or its accredited representative, certifying that the trainees are employed in furtherance of sovereign activities. This is outlined in more detail below.
If the organisation is a business or commercial organisation, the VAT position is determined by the location of the organisation:
If they are located outside of the European Union, VAT is NOT charged
If they are located inside the European Union, VAT is charged at the standard rate.
Valued Added Tax (VAT) on Supplies of Training to Overseas Governments
An extra Statutory Class Concession was introduced which zero rates training services supplied in the UK to overseas Governments for the purposes of their sovereign activities. As a condition of zero rating we must obtain a certificate from the foreign Government concerned, or its accredited representative, certifying that the trainees are employed in furtherance of sovereign activities. This relief is intended for the training in the UK of overseas Government officials, public servants and members of organisations such as the armed forces, the police, emergency services and similar bodies answerable to the Government concerned.
To enable us to apply this exemption to eligible Masterclass delegates, a declaration stating that your trainees are employed in the furtherance of sovereign activities is required . In the event that no such declaration is received, we will charge VAT at the standard rate.
This relief does not apply to the training of personnel from Government-owned businesses or sponsored commercial organisations, such as state airlines or nationalised industries. However, UK VAT charged on supplies to such businesses can be reclaimed under the arrangements set out in Notice 723 “Refunds of VAT in the European Community and other Countries”.
